Delete Account
You can permanently delete your Show My Stage account at any time. Deletion removes your login, profile, and the personal data tied to your account. It cannot be undone — there is no “undo delete” or restore from backup for a deleted account.
This is the same erasure path used for privacy requests (right to erasure) and App Store account-deletion requirements.
How to delete your account
On the web
- Sign in and open Settings
- Go to the Delete account section
- Confirm with either:
- Your password (if you use email and password), or
- Your account email (typical for Google / social sign-in)
- Check the acknowledgment that deletion is permanent
- Confirm in the browser dialog, then choose Delete my account
When deletion succeeds, you are signed out and returned to the home page.
In the mobile app
- Open Settings (from your profile)
- Tap Delete my account
- Confirm that you understand the action is permanent
- Enter your password or confirm your account email
- Tap Permanently delete account
You’ll see a confirmation that your account and associated data have been removed, and you’ll be signed out.
What gets deleted
Deleting your account removes (or permanently clears) data that belongs to you, including:
| Area | What happens |
|---|---|
| Account & login | Email/phone credentials, sessions, 2FA codes, and magic-link tokens |
| Artist / organizer profile | Profile content, pricing packages, availability, public slug, featured slots |
| Search & discovery | Your profile is removed from AI / vector search embeddings |
| Social | Reviews, comments, and follows you created; reviews/comments/follows on your profile |
| Events you created | Events you own are removed (including lineup, open-call apps, planner tasks, and related event chat for those events) |
| Events you’re attending | Your RSVPs are removed |
| Private guest lists | Phone invites you created, and invite rows that match your verified phone number |
| Inbox & messages | Thread participation and messages tied to your user (booking, nomination, contact, and inbox email records) |
| Nominations | Invite/vouch records where you are the nominee; nominations you sent as nominator are also cleared with the account |
| Notifications | In-app notifications sent to you |
| Vendor / venue reviews you wrote | Removed with the account |
Push tokens stored on the account are removed with the user record.
What is not wiped (and why)
Some rows are unclaimed or anonymized instead of hard-deleted, so other people’s events and curated catalog data stay intact:
| Area | What happens |
|---|---|
| Venues you claimed | The venue listing stays in the catalog but is no longer tied to your account (unclaimed) |
| Vendor profiles you owned | Same pattern — the listing can remain as unclaimed; collaborator access you granted is cleared |
| Tags / cancel attribution on other people’s events | Creator attribution may be cleared (SET NULL) rather than deleting someone else’s surviving event |
| Survey responses | Anonymous survey submissions are not linked by user id; they are not part of the account delete path |
| Deletion audit log | Show My Stage keeps a non-identifying record that a deletion happened (who performed it if an admin, when, and high-level counts) — not your email, user id, or name |
If you organized private events with a phone guest list, deleting your account also removes invite rows you created so guest phone numbers don’t linger under your organizer identity. Invitees who delete their account have invite rows matching their phone removed so they don’t stay on someone else’s allowlist.
Business profiles (important)
If you are the sole owner of a business profile, account deletion is blocked until you transfer ownership to someone else.
You’ll see a message like: you can’t delete while you’re the sole owner of one or more businesses — transfer ownership first (on the web), then try again.
Self-serve and admin delete both use this guard by default. Maintenance tooling used by the team may cascade-delete sole-owned businesses when doing a full purge; that is not what you get from Settings.
After deletion
- You cannot sign in with that account again
- Your public profile and slug stop working
- Other users no longer see you as a follower, reviewer, or lineup artist on removed data
- If you want to use Show My Stage again, you’ll need to register a new account
Asking an admin to delete for you
If you can’t access Settings (lost credentials, locked out, etc.), contact support or an admin. Admins can delete accounts from the admin tools. The same full cleanup runs — profile, embeddings, RSVPs, private-event invites, sessions, and the rest.
Ops may also use a command-line delete script in maintenance scenarios; it uses the same deletion service as Settings and the admin UI (no separate “partial delete” path).
Frequently asked questions
Can I undo a delete?
No. Deletion is permanent. Export anything you need (portfolio links, contacts, event notes) before you confirm.
Do I need a password if I signed up with Google?
No. Confirm your account email instead (or phone, when the API accepts phone confirmation for phone-first accounts).
What if I’m on a business team but not the sole owner?
Your personal account can be deleted. Memberships tied to your user are cleared. The business profile itself stays with the remaining owners.
Will my private event guests still be able to RSVP after I delete?
Events you created are removed with your account, so those guest links and lists go away with the event. If you only appeared as a guest (invitee) on someone else’s private event, your RSVP and matching phone invite are removed; the event itself remains for the organizer.
Is my phone number kept on guest lists after I delete?
No. Invite rows that match your verified phone are removed as part of deletion.
Do you keep a record that I deleted my account?
Only a privacy-safe audit entry: that a deletion occurred, roughly what categories of data were removed (counts), and whether an admin or you initiated it. It does not store your email or user id.
Where is this in the product?
