Venue listings

A venue listing is how space owners advertise a performance location on Show My Stage — halls, gardens, community spaces, hotels, and similar. It is separate from an artist profile and from simply having an account after RSVP.

What a venue listing is for

Use a venue listing if you rent or offer a space for performances and events. Typical uses:

  • Appear when organizers plan events and look for locations
  • Share capacity, amenities, pricing model, and photos
  • Take inquiries from organizers
  • Keep a public venue page once you choose to list it

Venues support the events workflow. They are not the main thing people search for in artist discovery — organizers usually find venues while assembling a show.

How to create one

  1. Sign in (phone or email)
  2. Open Get Started and choose List a venue
(or go to the business profile builder with venue selected)
  3. Fill Basic info: name, location, metro/region
  4. If you registered by phone without a date of birth yet, enter DOB (18+) — required before the listing can be created
  5. Continue through the wizard: details, facilities, photos, pricing, review
  6. Leave Listed on Discover off until you’re ready (drafts stay private)

On mobile, venue setup opens the same web wizard inside the app.

Exact address visibility can be controlled so guests see a precise address only when you allow it (useful for private or residential spaces).

Customize your public page

When you open your venue’s public page while signed in as an owner or editor, you can:

  • Choose an atmosphere (Spotlight, Ocean, Dusk, Mono) and surface treatment
  • Upload or replace the cover and gallery photos (up to 12)
  • Add an optional walkthrough YouTube video
  • Set a short URL (e.g. showmystage.com/harborlight-hall) shared with artist profile URLs in one global namespace

Capacity, address, amenities, and pricing still edit in the listing wizard. Structural details stay there; the public page is for presentation and media.

Draft vs listed

New venues start not public. Turning on discoverability lists the venue where organizers browse supporting spaces. You can hide it again anytime without deleting the listing.

Inquiries and notifications

Once your venue is claimed and listed, organizers can send a Request info message from Discover or your public venue page.

How to reply to an inquiry

Reply by email to the sender address in the message. There isn’t an in-app chat thread for venue inquiries yet — Activity is your inbox of record so you don’t miss the request.

Tips

  • Open the notification (or expand it) to read the full text, then use Open to go to your venue page.
  • Notifications go to the listing owner. Collaborator alerts may come later.
  • You won’t get an inquiry for an unclaimed curated listing — claim it first so messages can reach you in-app.

Claiming a curated listing (“Is this your venue?”)

Some venues on Show My Stage are curated — added by the Show My Stage team because we know the space, not created by the owner. A curated listing shows Is this your venue? on its public page until the real owner claims it.

How to claim it:

  1. Sign in to your Show My Stage account (create one if you don’t have one yet).
  2. Open the venue’s public page — usually from a link the Show My Stage team shares with you.
  3. In the Is this your venue? panel, choose Verify by email or Verify by phone, matching a contact we already have on file for that venue.
  4. We send a one-time 6-digit code to that email or phone number (not to your account’s email/phone — to the contact already on the listing, so we know it’s really you).
  5. Enter the code on the page. Once it matches, the listing is yours: you can edit it, add photos and pricing, and manage it from My Focus.

Good to know:

  • The code expires after 10 minutes and allows 5 attempts; request a new one if needed (45-second wait between requests).
  • We only show you which contact methods are available to verify (email and/or phone) — never the actual email address or phone number — until you’ve proven you control it.
  • A listing can only be claimed once. If you believe a curated listing about your venue has no claim option (no contact on file), contact us and we’ll help you take ownership.
  • If a link is shared with you before the listing is public, you can still open it and claim it while signed in — you don’t need to wait for it to appear on Discover.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an artist profile to list a venue?
No. Venue listing is independent.

Can admins or Show My Stage also add venues?
Yes — some venues exist as curated listings. When you create one while signed in, it is tied to your account so you can edit it. If it was curated by us, see Claiming a curated listing above.

I claimed the wrong listing, or someone else claimed a listing for my venue by mistake — what now?
Contact us. Claims aren’t self-service to undo (to keep listings from bouncing between accounts), but we can review and fix it.

Where do venue inquiries show up?
In email and in Activity (the notification bell on web, the notifications page, and Activity in the app). See Inquiries and notifications.

Can I message an organizer back inside Show My Stage?
Not yet for venue inquiries — reply by email for now. Event group chat is separate and only applies when you’re on an event’s chat channel.

What happens to my venue if I delete my account?
Ownership is cleared; the venue row may remain as an unclaimed/curated listing depending on platform rules. See Delete account.
